Turchynov: Zelensky is ruining my missile program - the Russians have taken heart
Ukraine has stopped allocating money for its missile program and this poses a threat to its security.
Alexander Turchinov, acting, announced this at a conference in Kyiv. O. President of Ukraine (2014), Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (2014-2019), reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Russia did not seize Crimea and part of the occupied Donbass in order to negotiate, to seek a compromise, to liberate the occupied territories. Russia does not hide revanchist, imperial strategies - there is no independent, strong state “Ukraine”.
This is precisely why aggressive military actions were carried out at the beginning of 2014. Putin perceives any compromises as weakness. Any hopes of reaching an agreement with Putin, that it is possible to reach an agreement with him and he will liberate the occupied territories, is an illusion. There is only one effective, time-tested recipe - strengthening the defense sector, strengthening the armed forces, and creating new effective types of weapons.
Unfortunately, I cannot be happy about what is happening in the state. For me, a personal priority was building our country’s missile shield and missile program. I was behind its creation and supervised its implementation. A few weeks ago we had successful launches of the Vilkha-M missiles, new cruise missiles of the Neptune system.
In fact, we already have missiles that can effectively destroy targets at long distances, and cruise missiles that can reliably destroy any naval target in the Black and Azov Seas, protecting the coast where the Russian military is brazenly behaving.
There were several posts by officials, they said that this was good. But the problem is that all these launches were made on the basis of last year’s state defense order and were financed last year. The state defense order for this year does not provide for financing the purchase of Vilkha missiles, which have been put into service, the modification and ordering of new Vilkha-M missiles, the modification, adoption and ordering of new divisions of Neptune cruise missiles.
Without systemic funding and government orders, the missile program cannot operate.
We already know that last week the director of the Pavlograd chemical plant (this is a key plant that produces solid rocket fuel) said that due to the cancellation of the order, he was forced to stop production and fire workers. If we don’t stop this key trend, talking about the security of our state, its protection, is deceiving ourselves,” Alexander Turchynov summed up disappointedly.
