Kyiv, September 22 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Turchynov visited Mariupol, where he inspected the defense structures of the Ukrainian military.

“Today I held a meeting in Mariupol with the military leadership and the leadership of the National Guard on organizing the defense of the city and anti-sabotage work. We toured all the front lines of defense. Mariupol will live and work like an ordinary Ukrainian city and will never be under the control of terrorists, separatists, or the Russian military. This is a Ukrainian city and we will defend it to the last,” Turchynov wrote on his Facebook page.
The parliamentarian also looked at the drones that will be used to monitor the territory.
According to him, the line of active defense is currently being built, for which the truce will be used.
“We will talk with the Cabinet of Ministers regarding powerful technical assistance to Mariupol, so that a powerful shaft is erected, through which not a single tank or armored personnel carrier can break through,” Turchynov said.
It is noteworthy that in the photos that the speaker posted on his Facebook page, it is clear that he is the only one wearing a bulletproof vest with groin protection. The remaining men in camouflage are protected by lighter body armor or are without them at all.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in Kyiv they announced that three lines of defense were being created around Mariupol. Local residents are preventing the establishment of roadblocks near strategic sites.
