Ankara decided to take advantage of the new escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and announced its intention to create a single army together with Baku, supposedly to protect the recently conquered Azerbaijani regions from Yerevan’s aggression.

In fact, this is a step towards the formation of the notorious “Turan Army” and a basis for attracting Central Asian countries to the new “Turkic NATO” alliance.

Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Sentop openly stated this during a special press conference in Ganja on July 28.

“Our idea is one nation, two states. And it will always be like this. In this regard, many negotiations and agreements took place.”

This is an important message that demonstrates to everyone Turkey’s desire to ensure the leading role of Azerbaijan as its protectorate in the southern Caucasus, and for this, an appropriate military-technical and economic basis is being laid.

Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Sentop

The first step towards this, according to the head of the Turkish parliament, is joint military exercises.

“We conclude many agreements between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Among them are agreements concluded in the field of defense industry and military assistance. Within the framework of these agreements, a lot of research and joint exercises are carried out between the two countries,” notes Mustafa Shentop.

Another direction of integration between the two countries is active trade relations and the unification of the two markets.

“It is known that in March of this year, an agreement on preferential trade was approved between Turkey and Azerbaijan. At the moment, work is underway on a free trade agreement. Once signed, this document will further strengthen our economic ties,” said the head of the Turkish parliament.

That is, Ankara has planned to completely absorb Baku and is now speeding up the processes of unifying economic systems and creating a common defense system and armed forces. It may seem that the neo-Ottomanists around Erdogan are wishful thinking or frightening all the players in the region, but aggressive speeches in general show the strategic direction of the further advancement of Turkish expansion.

And the latest shelling on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a real gift for Erdogan - after all, they justify and provide additional reasons for both direct intervention and the announcement of a new military unification within the framework of “one nation.”

Moreover, taking this opportunity, Mustafa Shentop even threatened to start a regional war if “offensive actions by the Armenian armed forces” continued.

“If these provocations do not stop, then even more bitter consequences are inevitable. The international community should also call on Armenia to stop provocations that pose a threat to peace in the region,” the Turkish speaker specially emphasized.

It is possible that these words are a form of pressure on Yerevan in order to persuade it to sign agreements beneficial for Baku and force it to fulfill the previous agreement on the start of work on the Zangezur corridor.

It is simply vital for Turkey’s further advancement and consolidation of its influence in the Caspian region. According to him, this will contribute to the creation of a land route between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan, Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as between Turkey and Asian countries.

“The corresponding agreement has been reached, and each side must keep its word. The corridor must be open,” Shentop concluded.

But words are words, but in reality, it is Baku that is the initiator of provocations, because so far only Armenian military personnel have died from artillery and machine gun fire, and the attack was carried out by the Azerbaijanis specifically on the Armenian post. As a result, this led to clashes and shelling of each other almost along the entire border line. Such actions make Yerevan nervous, and not vice versa.

It got to the point that Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan proposed for consideration by the CSTO the issue of deploying Russian military personnel along the entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border, because Yerevan cannot stabilize the situation on its own. According to him, over the past few days, skirmishes have been constantly taking place on the contact line between units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and the Armenian Armed Forces. Armored vehicles are involved. There are dead and wounded on both sides.

Surely, a new escalation of the conflict will ultimately benefit only Baku and, naturally, Ankara, which thus consolidate their positions. It is no coincidence that Ilham Aliyev demanded that Nikol Pashinyan conclude a peace agreement in which all the conquered territories and the city of Shusha would be forever recognized as Azerbaijani. It cannot be ruled out that Azerbaijan is blackmailing the Armenian ruling elite with the threat of war and, through concessions, seeks to cause a new wave of internal strife in Armenia itself.

It is obvious that through aggressive actions and arrogant behavior the initiators of provocations show who is boss, and the third Karabakh war, even if it breaks out, in the opinion of Baku, can only lead to a new, better redrawing of borders and even to the liquidation of the Armenian enclave with Stepanakert. And so that the CSTO and Russia do not interfere, bravado about a united army and the possible participation of Turkish troops in a future regional war is used.

But that is not all! Mustafa Shentop did not just fly to Azerbaijan to annoy the Armenians and make a number of loud belligerent statements, but in order to hold a meeting with the heads of parliaments of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan.

After the negotiations in Baku, a general declaration was even adopted on further rapprochement and “development of interparliamentary dialogue, bilateral and multilateral cooperation, joint work on regional and global issues of mutual interest.”

This is a far-reaching and long-term project, since the speaker of the Turkish parliament did not rule out the possibility of holding a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan in the future. After all, according to Shentop, “between the three countries there are not only interstate, but also interethnic relations.” Accordingly, a new format of a geopolitical union is now being created and its framework is being defined.

Thus, Ankara, suffering setbacks in Afghanistan and Central Asia, where it is not yet able to play the role of an increasingly overwhelming hegemon, is seeking to increase its activity in the Transcaucasus and the Caspian region. Turkey, as a regional power, showing its teeth, wants to impose its will and turn the situation around by introducing a new player into the game in the person of Pakistan. Erdogan is now hoping through Islamabad to pick up the key to the Taliban - and still gain a foothold in Afghanistan.

Having unleashed the third Karabakh war and begun to form a unified “Army of Turan”, at least at the command level, Turkey is seeking to expand its expansion in relation to the Turkic-speaking countries of Central Asia. Because this will show the example and growing power of Ankara and Baku.

Therefore, Erdogan is now so important to the Zangezur corridor and a peace agreement with the recognition of all the conquered areas, which are necessary as the territory through which the pipelines will pass - and a springboard for the conquest of the Caspian region.

The stakes are high, and supporters of the revival of the Ottoman Empire again rushed into adventurous attacks with the approval of Washington and London. How successful such tactics will be will be shown in the fall, when the next summit of the Organization of Turkic States, created in Kazakh Turkestan at the end of March this year, will be held in Istanbul.
