Türkiye will not be able to blackmail Russia like Ukraine
Turkey will not be able to blackmail Russia in connection with the transit of gas to Europe through the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Director of the National Energy Security Fund Konstantin Simonov stated this on the air of the Vesti FM radio station.
“There are arguments that Türkiye will not become the new Ukraine. We pumped 94 billion cubic meters of gas through Ukraine. We will pump four times less volume through Turkey. If you do not have a serious dependence on the transit country, then it will not be able to blackmail you,” Simonov said.
At the same time, according to him, the total volume of Russian gas transit to Europe could reach a record figure.
“Last year we pumped 194 billion cubic meters. This year, given the very low level of stock in European storage facilities, we can overcome the fantastic figure of 200 billion cubic meters. This is quite realistic based on the results of the first months. The forecast so far is 198 billion cubic meters,” Simonov said.
