Türkiye outplayed Russia – Yerevan analyst
Azerbaijan, instigated by Turkey, failed in its blitzkrieg in Nagorno-Karabakh.
This opinion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, was expressed by Yerevan analyst Boris Navasardyan in a commentary to Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
“By encouraging Azerbaijan to start this war, Turkey clearly outplayed Russia at this stage of the competition for the South Caucasus,” the publication’s interlocutor claims.
According to him, only “the stubborn resistance of the Armenians to the joint Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression allowed Moscow, without taking sides, to remain in the game and even claim certain dividends in the future.”
“In addition, having failed to achieve a blitzkrieg and being stuck in Karabakh, Ankara, which finds itself in a vulnerable position on the international stage, is forced to show greater accommodation on a number of contradictions with the West, primarily on issues related to oil and gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean,” Navasardyan said.
