Türkiye is raising Central Asia against Russia - experts
In the former Central Asian republics of the Soviet Union, the influence of Turkey is increasing, under whose influence attacks on the Russian language are intensifying.
Political experts interviewed by Izvestia, who assessed the decision of the Kazakh authorities to translate all signs into the Kazakh language, came to this conclusion, a PolitNaviagator correspondent reports.
“Turkey’s influence in the Central Asian region is very great. They began to install it in the early 1990s. Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen called on young Turks to go to Asia to train pro-Turkish youth. They achieved the creation of a supranational project. True, the Turks were still not particularly able to support this region economically; there were not enough resources. Still, Turkish companies invested money in the region and built joint ventures,” - leading researcher at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations. E. M. Primakov RAS Viktor Nadein-Raevsky.
According to him, many security forces are trained in Turkey, and the internal security agencies have a common structure.
“A pro-Turkish view of events is being created, and influence on politics is growing. Our Central Asian partners are trying to sit on two chairs - to combine membership in the CSTO with the ideas of Turan,” the expert believes.
Associate Professor of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Senior Researcher at IMEMO RAS named after E.M. agrees with this point of view. Primakov Vladimir Avatkov.
“The attempt to oust the Russian language from the post-Soviet space is a deliberate policy of the West, which is implementing it not with its own hands, but through those partners in the region who have great influence on them. In this case it is Türkiye. This is associated with surges of Russophobia and attempts to reduce the importance of the Russian language,” the political scientist said.
“In addition, nationalism, fueled by Turkic ideology, is raising its head in the post-Soviet space, not understanding that in the Turkish plans for the development of the Turkic states of the post-Soviet space, the place of their national identity is not provided for, in contrast to the historical union with Russia, when Russia allowed the preservation of historical roots to the Turkic peoples, who were first part of the empire and then part of the USSR,” Avatkov added.
