Türkiye delivers Baltic ultimatum to NATO
Turkey wants the NATO alliance to take into account its interest in the fight against Kurdish forces, so it is blocking the adoption of a document on strengthening the defense of the Baltic countries and Poland.
This was stated during a press conference by the head of the Center for Political and Military Studies of the Faculty of World Politics of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, vice-president of the Russian Council for International Affairs, reserve lieutenant general Evgeny Buzhinsky, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Türkiye is a key ally on the southern flank. Without Turkey, NATO will lose 60-70% of its military potential. Today at the summit it is planned to adopt a document on strengthening the protection of the Baltic countries and Poland.
We are obviously talking about additional forces. I don't think they will be significantly strengthened. It is planned to allocate additional financial resources.
Turkey actually blocked the adoption of this document by delivering an ultimatum to NATO that they recognize the Kurdish units against which Erdogan is conducting his operation in Syria as a terrorist organization.
Or Erdogan will block the adoption of a document on NATO’s eastern flank. The rationale is logical,” the expert concluded.
