Turkey is against Ukraine and Georgia joining NATO, and may itself leave the alliance
Turkey, like Russia, has a negative attitude towards the possible entry of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO. Amur Gadzhiev, an employee of the Turkish sector of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.

“Both Turkey and Russia have the same concerns that the Black Sea region is being overly militarized. There, albeit on a rotational basis, NATO ships are constantly present, which is not in the interests of either Turkey or Russia. For this reason, Turkey opposes the entry of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO, because it does not want to increase tensions and damage security,” Hajiyev said.
He drew attention to the fact that Turkey is now purchasing S-400 anti-aircraft systems from Russia at its own expense, thereby leaving the NATO missile defense umbrella.
Senator from Crimea Olga Kovitidi did not rule out that Turkey could leave NATO
“It is possible that Türkiye realizes the need to leave NATO. This will be the most constructive step in the interests of the economy and stability of the state. Turkey today is throwing away money for its participation, and the effectiveness of this is extremely low,” Kovitidi said.
