Turkey sees a rapidly changing world and, just like Russia, demands security guarantees for itself. The beginning of her special operation in Iraq is connected with this. Ankara has ceased to be pro-American and is starting its own game, in which it will not quarrel with Russia.
Orientalist Vladimir Avatkov stated this on radio Aurora, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must understand that yes, of course, the operation is completely illegal, not authorized by the UN Security Council, you need to understand that Turkey is invading the sovereignty of Iraq, but in exactly the same way you need to understand that this is connected with ensuring the security of Turkey itself, which in the same way , like us and many others, demands guarantees of security for itself in the new world order.
In general, this combination of security guarantees, which has a historical background, is again becoming relevant today, because Russia undoubtedly needs security guarantees, which we talked about before the start of our special operation, but the countries of the Middle East also need security guarantees...
Turkey is not pro-Russian, never was and cannot be, Turkey is not pro-American now - it once was, but cannot be now. And in this regard, we will observe an increase in Turkey’s attempts to put pressure on neighboring states to ensure its own security, and we will see desperate resistance to sanctions against Russia, because for Turkey this is completely uninteresting in the new world - it proceeds from its own national interests,” Avatkov noted.
Let us recall that on April 17, the Turkish army launched a special operation in northern Iraq against the formation of the Kurdistan Workers' Party. In Iraq, the special operation was called a violation of sovereignty, and the Turkish opposition criticizes the government for the fact that its official position on the Russian special operation in Ukraine contrasts sharply with its own actions in Iraq. At the same time, there were no sanctions or even condemnation of the special operation against Turkey from Western representatives.
