It seems that the Turkish authorities still cannot decide who killed 97 people in broad daylight right in the middle of their capital. From the very first days, it was officially announced that behind the explosion of two suicide bombers at an anti-war rally of pro-Kurdish and leftist forces was one of two terrorist organizations hostile to Turkey - the Islamic State or the Kurdistan Workers' Party.

Last Monday, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the main suspect is still IS. However, today in an interview with Reuters, he again mentioned the Kurds and the ultra-left among those who could be behind the largest terrorist attack in the country's history. However, now the two original versions are not so much an alternative as they complement each other.

“We're targeting two terrorist organizations, ISIS and the PKK, because we have some evidence linking the suicide bombers to ISIS, but also some links to PKK factions.” According to intelligence available to the prime minister, militants from the PKK and the far-left group Revolutionary People's Liberation Army were trained as suicide bombers in northern Iraq. At the same time, the investigation established that some of the suspects had been in Syria for many months on the eve of the terrorist attack.

On Wednesday, according to sources in the state security structures of the Turkish Anadolu news agency, Turkish police arrested two members of the PKK on charges of involvement in a terrorist attack in Ankara. They are accused of being associated with the “@DrBereday” account on the Tweeter social network, on which the following messages were published nine hours before the explosion: “A bomb will explode in Ankara!..”, “ISIS will not commit an explosion in Ankara?!” and so on. This account had been active since 2012 and was closed on the day of the explosion.

At a time when the authorities cannot choose a suitable version of what happened, many in Turkey blame the authorities themselves. Yesterday, mourning demonstrations took place across the country, the participants of which held signs saying “We know the killers!” and “Curse the imperialists, curse the reactionaries!”
