The head of the department of Eurasian integration and development of the SCO at the Institute of CIS Countries, Vladimir Evseev, stated this on the Sputnik YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we talk about comparing the military potentials of Russia and Ukraine, then there is nothing to compare. If we talk about the situation “at the moment”, Ukraine does not have any Navy - this is zero, Ukraine has practically no Air Force, this situation is close to zero, Ukraine has an extremely weak air defense system, and with all this, the Ukrainians still have the audacity to use Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles devices.
Do they naively think that the Donbass militias will fight with what they have, or maybe they will also have attack UAVs together with layered air defense systems? Or do they somehow think that the Donbass militias are the Armenian army in Nagorno-Karabakh, which was practically abandoned to its fate by the authorities in Yerevan?” - said Evseev.
At the same time, he added that information about the effectiveness of Bayraktars is very exaggerated.
“Türkiye has done everything to maximize the effectiveness of these UAVs. They were used in Libya during hostilities, in Syria, in Nagorno-Karabakh.
A lot is said about their effectiveness in Nagorno-Karabakh, but for some reason it is forgotten that when it was not about a confrontation with a rather weak technically equipped Armenian army, but when the confrontation took place in the Syrian province of Idlib, where one of the participants was a Russian group of troops , then quite a lot, in my opinion, out of 20 Turkish UAVs, 18 were destroyed. For some reason no one says this,” the expert recalled.
“If Ukraine expects that it will have some kind of advantage, for example, as the Azerbaijani army had during the second war in Nagorno-Karabakh, there can be no talk of any advantage. Because the rather poorly technically equipped Armenian troops shot down these Turkish UAVs. Again, they try not to talk about this,” Evseev summed up.
