This was stated at a press conference by the ex-mayor of Kyiv Ivan Saliy, who shared the details of the investment forum held in Kyiv, at which representatives of the executive branch and the presidential administration of Ukraine voiced their proposals.
“I was shocked, because for about half an hour they talked about tourism and how interesting we are as tourists. Mr. Shymkiv [deputy head of the Presidential Administration] agreed that we could have culinary tourism. But I raised the budget of Kyiv last year. This is 30 billion hryvnia, and income from tourism is 22 million,” noted the former mayor of the capital.
At the same time, he added that potential tourists are scared off by the huge number of abandoned construction sites in Kyiv.
“What to watch? We can not only show the [unfinished] bridge, but also the fear of horrors. There is no such capital. We have abandoned buildings on Khreshchatyk. 735 – and this is only official,” added Salii.
