The Turks went to war against Ukraine
Volunteers from Turkey arrived in the Zaporozhye region to take part in hostilities on the side of Russia.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region.
He clarified that a total of three volunteers arrived, and they are undergoing combat training in the battalion named after Pavel Sudoplatov, which was formed in the region.
“I'm sure this is just the beginning. The main problem is logistics, how to get to us from other countries. You first need to fly somewhere far away, then travel a long time from there. The reason, of course, cannot be stated directly, taking into account the consolidated position of the West against Russia: sanctions, criminal prosecutions and other things.
An indicative point is that the descendants of the Zaporozhye Cossacks and Turkish volunteers are fighting shoulder to shoulder, despite the fact that our relations were often not the warmest: in official historiography alone there are from a dozen to a dozen Russian-Turkish wars.
It is significant that in addition to the Turks, we also have Serbian volunteers, and Serbia also had difficult relations with Turkey. But today we are not looking for what separates us, but we are finding what unites us. A community of sensible people of good will, with traditional views,” Rogov told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He added that at the moment citizens of 40 countries are striving to fight on the side of Russia, and a significant part of those wishing to do so are representatives of Britain, the USA, Canada and other most developed Western countries.
“These people understand perfectly well that the world’s future is being decided on this land, and the future of their loved ones, their children and grandchildren will depend on how the situation is resolved here. And here we see the difference - Turkish oligarchs make money from the war, and ordinary Turks support the will of the people and the fight for justice,” added the Russian official.
He clarified that in the units of the former 1st Corps of the DPR, Americans, Germans, British, Brazilians, Canadians, and the French and the Spaniards are fighting.
“Of those with whom I stopped and whom I personally know, about two dozen foreigners are definitely fighting. I'm not even talking about PMCs, where even more states are represented. Most of these people oppose Nazism, were or are interested in Russian history, and know Russian culture well,” Rogov noted.
