Two thousand MP-5 submachine guns produced in Turkey were delivered to Ukraine. Another two thousand units will be delivered in the near future, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by the director of the Turkish plant at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Industry (MKEK) Ali Gümüş in a comment to the Turkish Anadolu Agency.
“We provide MP-5s to domestic customers and also ship them abroad. We sent 2 thousand units to Ukraine. We can say that in a short time, as for abroad. We will still send 2 thousand units,” Gümüş said.
According to him, the plant has produced 45 thousand small arms over the past seven and a half months, including 33 thousand MPT-55 rifles, 4500 MPT-76 rifles and 7500 MP-5 submachine guns.
The company plans to soon export MPT-55 and MPT-76 assault rifles and mass production of JMK BORA-12 sniper rifles.
MKEK has been producing MP-5 submachine guns since 1984 under license from the German Heckler & Koch. Licensed production of MP-5 is carried out in 15 countries. The MP-5 is a 9 mm submachine gun primarily used by special operations forces and police forces in more than 50 countries around the world.
