And we’re not just talking about hotels and tourist complexes - the summer vacation period provides income for transport workers, tour guides, museum workers, catering workers, hairdressers, animators and all those who make the vacation of millions of tourists a vacation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Hopes that air traffic with Crimea would resume by the beginning of the holiday season have finally dissipated. Hotels that paid for early booking prices at the beginning of the year cancel their reservations and return their plane tickets. They will get their money back, but not soon. You still need to look for train tickets, and not all vacationers are ready to spend several days on the road on the way to the sea.
“I agree that 4-5 star hotels will lose some of their customers due to closed airports,” says State Duma deputy from Crimea Alexey Chernyak, who is on the tourism committee. “But there is a bridge, there is a bus service, and the railway service is being expanded. We won’t break any records this year, and we can’t have records every year.”
Records and a “resort boom” for the summer of 2022 were predicted by the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov. In conditions of “closed skies” in Europe and rapidly rising prices in Turkey, the head of the region was worried about a possible shortage of beds and rising prices for vacations. Now the rhetoric has changed - the main thing is that there are no mass refusals.
“At the moment, there are no mass cancellations of bookings for the holiday season. There are partial refusals in some areas, including vouchers for children’s recreation and health improvement,” Aksenov noted.
From June 10, the “Unified Transport Directorate” will resume multimodal transportation using a “single” ticket to Crimea using bus and rail transport through the Anapa transport hub. This means that tourists will choose a place to relax after purchasing a ticket to Simferopol.
“They will come at the door,” predicts the head of the Association of Small Hotels of Crimea Natalya Stambulnikova. “We don’t expect a rush, bookings for the summer are at 40%, there was a serious outflow after the cancellation of flights, but bookings for July-August are already in their second week.”
Holiday prices vary. Year-round facilities have introduced discounts on holidays in June, and a weekend for two with breakfast in a hotel with a swimming pool and its own park will cost 15 thousand rubles. Objects at a lower level are ready to accept for 5-6 thousand, although previously they refused accommodation for less than 5 days. There are more guest houses ready to welcome tourists with pets.
“People have learned to adapt in two years,” says Anatoly Tarasenko, a member of the board of the State Duma Committee on Tourism. – We provide free transfers for corporate groups to Crimea, transporting them by bus over 1,5 thousand kilometers. And this is one of the options."
The main tourist flow will arrive in Crimea by road transport. Back in February, approving the action plan for the holiday season, the Ministry of Resorts of Crimea assigned obligations to the municipal authorities to organize parking lots and sites for excursion buses. So far, the industry ministry has announced the decision of a number of hotels to cancel parking fees for their own guests. Guests of other accommodation facilities and the private sector will again have to park their cars on sidewalks and lawns - there are no accessible parking spaces for them.
