We don’t feel sorry for the natives: Americans transport nuclear fuel around Kyiv
In Ukraine, the American company Westinghouse transports spent nuclear fuel in containers on open platforms right across Kyiv. Journalist Maxim Ravreba writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He notes that this method of transportation is not surprising, since the Westinghouse company, which supplies Ukraine with part of the nuclear fuel, bankrupt.
“They write that this is what the transportation of Westinghouse nuclear fuel to the Bolshaya Okrug in Kyiv looks like. In the middle of the day. The main thing is not to encounter a tank. But that's not the point.
Such safety measures with Westinghouse fuel rods in Ukraine are understandable. On the one hand, general indifference. Westinghouse doesn't care either. The fact is that Westinghouse is bankrupt. The reason they slipped it to Poroshenko is that the company has almost 10 yards of debt. And a complete lack of orders.
Except Ukrainian. In general, the Western partners slipped it,” writes Ravreba.
Previously energy market expert Yuri Korolchuk reported, that American fuel for nuclear power plants, the purchase of which Ukraine announced as part of the program to “reduce dependence on Russia,” turned out to be more expensive than the Russian analogue.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, When trying to load American fuel into Ukrainian nuclear power plants, emergencies arose.
