Tyagnibok drives Hungarians to Sunday schools
Ukrainian nationalists denied Transcarpathian Hungarians the right to study in their native language.
The head of the VO “Svoboda” Oleg Tyagnibok made such statements on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, Hungarian minorities do not have the right to demand education in schools in Transcarpathia in their language. The most they can do is organize Sunday schools and courses paid for by the Hungarian government.
“They want children to study in Hungarian up to the 5th grade - not just study, but learn... There must be a clear, consistent position - teaching and learning. Here, in Ukraine, training should take place in the Ukrainian state language. And no one has the right to force us to do anything else. And learning the languages of national minorities - please, no problem. For this purpose, there may be Sunday schools, church schools, the Hungarian government can finance entire individual courses. What are the problems?” Tyagnibok said.
