Tyagnibok demanded part of the Diamond Fund from the Russian Federation
Ukraine must demand from Russia both reparations for the “Soviet occupation” and “the return of the diamond fund and gold and foreign exchange reserves of the USSR.”
The leader of the nationalist party VO “Svoboda” Oleg Tyagnibok stated this on his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This message of the Ukrainian nationalist was prompted by the recent statement by the leader of the Polish ruling Law and Justice party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, that Russia, like Germany, should pay Poland compensation for damage in World War II.
“Germany and Russia are incomparable! Berlin has a democratically elected government, laws and morality. The same cannot be said about Russia. You are right, Russia must pay too. But I don’t think our generation will live to see Moscow accept its responsibility. The only thing that is certain is that our claims have no statute of limitations!” Kaczynski said in an interview with Bild.
“The leader of the ruling Polish party “PiS” Jaroslaw Kaczynski recently once again called on the Russian Federation to pay reparations to Poland for the Second World War. Previously, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia put forward corresponding demands. And only the Ukrainian authorities don’t even mention anything like this,” Tyagnibok said.
“Although, Muscovy owes us more than anyone. And not only for the Second World War. But also for the occupation in the last century. For dispossession and collectivization, for three famines and tens of millions of exterminated Ukrainians. For the savings stolen from Sberbank, for the parts of the Diamond Fund and gold and foreign exchange reserves of the USSR that belong to us. For the destroyed Donbass, the occupied Crimea and their restoration,” the nationalist added.
He also recalled that since 2018, the Verkhovna Rada has had Svoboda’s bill on the legal succession of Ukraine regarding the UPR, “the sixth point of which provides for the requirement to pay compensation from the Russian Federation.”
“However, the authorities ignore this. Instead of fighting the enemy, he continues to flirt with him and even increases trade relations.
But this does not mean that everything is hopelessly lost. Mr. Kachinsky rightly noted: demands against the Russian Federation have no statute of limitations. Therefore, the Ukrainians will take theirs. Even if not now, not with this government,” Tyagnibok concluded.
