Homophobic Tyagnibok members were suspected of latent homosexuality
Activists of the right-wing Ukrainian party VO “Svoboda”, demonstrating their homophobia, may in fact be gay.

Journalist Yuriy Makarov writes about this in an author’s column on the pages of the Ukrainian Week magazine.
The author says that at the last nationalist festival “Banderstadt” the presentation of the book “Execution Calendar” was canceled because the initiator of the project, Elena Gerasimyuk, posted a comment on Facebook several months ago about supporting the LGBT action. An activist from the VO “Svoboda” visited the festival organizers and expressed his dissatisfaction, after which the presentation was cancelled.
“I have never hidden the fact that I do not like Svoboda for its limitations and hypocrisy. Hypocrisy, because I know something about its amazing rise during the time of Yanukovych, as well as about individual local deputies who, having come to power, demonstrate appetites no worse than the last burp. Limited, because solving the most complex problems of post-totalitarian, post-colonial Ukraine with the help of their simple ideas is national suicide. At the same time, I admit that ordinary Svoboda members often became examples of courage both on the Maidan and at the front. But others, in the rear and local councils, did not become. And this time they didn’t,” Makarov emphasizes.
“And in the anti-gay concern, as was said, there is a rather comic effect,” the journalist added. – Since the 80s of the last century, I have heard from practicing psychotherapists that aggressive homophobia can be a sign of latent homosexuality. If this is very delicate: maybe. The other day, quite by accident, as if deliberately on the topic, I came across academic confirmation. This is an old link to a study from the University of Georgia (Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1996 Aug; 105/3/): two groups of men - one normal, the other clearly homophobic - were shown, excuse me, gay porn. The first one looked without curiosity. In the second, dispassionate instruments recorded sexual arousal. You can't fool nature. And if you don’t want to be mistaken for gay, just don’t be a p..som.”
