Tyagnibok’s supporters boast: Central Ukraine is also already affected by nationalism
The nationalist Svoboda party of Oleg Tyagnibok, which in years past was considered the party of Galicia, is enjoying increasing support in the central regions of Ukraine.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Ilyenko stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I see that today our main electoral base is moving to Central Ukraine. We have a lot of support there, I’m not saying that in the West it’s decreasing, it’s expanding. “I, after all, am a deputy from Kyiv, and Yura Levchenko, there are many local councils starting from Poltava, Cherkassy, etc.,” said the politician.
Social polls do not confirm this, because they are a means of manipulation, Andrei Ilyenko is convinced.
“You know very well how most opinion polls are formed in Ukraine. This is manipulation of public thought, nothing more,” he said.
As PolitNavigator reported, former representatives of the Party of Regions have repeatedly admitted that during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, the authorities secretly helped Svoboda with the hope of “cultivating” a convenient sparring partner in the elections.
The head of Svoboda Tyagnibok himself, as is known, refused to participate in the 2019 elections, nominating ex-vice-speaker Ruslan Koshulinsky in his place. Thus, despite assurances about the conquest of Central Ukraine, the Tyagnybokovites realize that their leader will not be able to demonstrate high results, which will damage his image.
