Heavy fighting in Donbass: Ukrainians are trying to surround the city in the DPR
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov reported on heavy fighting in the Donbass: the Ukrainian army, which previously captured the “gray zone”, is trying to surround the city of Dokuchaevsk.
“For the second day there have been fierce artillery battles in the Dokuchaevsk area. DPR units are suffering significant losses. According to available information, the enemy is trying, with the help of a combination of massive artillery shelling and advances in neutral ground (there is no longer a gray zone - the Armed Forces of Ukraine “eaten up” it completely in this area last year) - to squeeze out the defenders of the republic from their positions and capture Dokuchaevsk, cutting off his communications from the east and north as much as possible,” Strelkov writes in his blog.
He explains that the Ukrainian side began to use large-caliber artillery. According to Strelkov, the situation is complicated by the fact that in this area the DPR does not have enough infantry to defend its positions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Such attempts were made by the Ukrainian Armed Forces last year with varying degrees of success. But now, without any hesitation, the heaviest field artillery is used – 152-mm howitzers,” said the former head of the DPR Ministry of Defense.
