Tymchuk wrote a law allowing people to be imprisoned for life
Kyiv, December 09 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Newly appointed Verkhovna Rada deputy Dmitry Tymchuk registered a bill “on amending the Criminal Code regarding strengthening liability for crimes against the fundamentals of national security of Ukraine.”

“The essence of the bill is to increase the lower and upper “bars” of prison terms for separatism, i.e. actions that constitute an encroachment on territorial integrity (including public calls and distribution of materials), and for financing such actions. As experience shows, our courts often give sentences at the “lower limit” for such actions. This is not good. Plus - unambiguous confiscation of property (now this is fixed in the form of a “fork” in the Criminal Code - it can be with confiscation, it can be without, and the courts rarely use this rule).
And also - the introduction of an upper limit for life imprisonment for high treason. The point is not only to create a deterrent (especially for some government officials and gentlemen from the military command), but also to help the investigators. Today, traitors rarely cooperate with the investigation - there is little difference between serving, for example, 12 years or 14. If they know that they are facing a life sentence, and if they cooperate - the same 12 years, then this will be a completely different conversation.
I hope parliament will support it. The bill was written by me based on the results of consultations with our counterintelligence officers,” Tymchuk said.
