Tymchuk scares with complete paralysis of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Innovations offered to Ukraine by Western partners in Ukrainian realities are fraught with serious negative consequences for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukrainian propagandist, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense Dmitry Tymchuk spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
According to him, the bill on national security and defense introduced to the Rada, in particular the provision on the creation of the Joint Operational Headquarters, sparked discussion in the committee.
“As I said, the function of the General Staff is to manage interspecific and interdepartmental assets and groupings of forces, and the function of the General Staff is its status as the main body of military command. I perfectly understand the American management system; it is quite obvious that this principle was suggested by NATO experts who took part in the development of this bill,” Tymchuk explained.
He draws attention to the fact that if this norm is adopted, Ukraine will have a commander-in-chief of the armed forces, under him - the General Staff, which is the main body of military command, and also in the same status - the Joint Operational Headquarters, which commands forces and means in specific operations.
“We understand perfectly well that in Ukrainian realities (and we even have the principle of unity of command enshrined in our charter) this will not be like a break in the pattern - serious confusion may arise in specific military operations. For example, the General Staff will set its tasks, and the General Staff, which is in the same subordination status, will give its orders. This will lead to complete chaos and, I’m afraid, to the disruption of operations in some cases,” the deputy fears.
The propagandist claims that he spoke with representatives of the American embassy on this issue, and they allegedly agreed that these proposals did not sufficiently take into account Ukrainian realities, but so far this issue is under discussion.
“I am afraid that the theorists from whom these proposals came were poorly acquainted with Ukrainian realities. Realizing what problems may arise, we must look for some kind of consensus and seriously discuss this issue, because if we suddenly indiscriminately drive these positions into the bill, tomorrow it will be adopted, and the day after tomorrow it will come into force, then we can simply paralyze the entire system military control in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Tymchuk warned.
