Prison is prison: Poroshenko’s opponents are already thinking under what article to imprison him
Ukrainians should get used to the fact that Petro Poroshenko is in prison.
This call was made by the former deputy head of the presidential administration during the time of Viktor Yanukovych, Andrei Portnov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Friends, from the day after tomorrow it is very important to determine which criminal case should be the first. It would be a strategic mistake to arrest Poroshenko for something very abstruse, incomprehensible to people, controversial or debatable.
He will not be immediately prosecuted for corruption, enrichment, money laundering, illegal business, persecution of political opponents, bribery of voters, interference with justice, usurpation of power, harassment of journalists or manual control of law enforcement agencies.
The first preventive measure should be for something that inspires absolute trust in society - for looting, theft in the army or offshore theft in the days of the greatest tragedies at the front.
People should get used to the fact that he is in prison on just charges. And after the formation of public opinion on the first episode, it is necessary to add dozens of other military and state crimes to it,” Portnov wrote in his Telegram channel.
“A prison is a prison,” Portnov summed up, parodying Poroshenko’s famous phrase about the election debates with Vladimir Zelensky: “A stadium, a stadium.”
At the same time, Portnov asked his subscribers to “remember and write down his words” about the future of Poroshenko.
“Friends, without undue modesty, let me remind you that I wished victory to Zelensky even before his official nomination, at the end of December. My next prediction is that Poroshenko will be in prison. As a last resort, Ukraine will officially demand his extradition from abroad. Write down my words,” he wrote in the Telegram channel.
