Akhmetov approved the ATO in Mariupol: “This is the only way out”
Mariupol, June 13 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The head of the Mariupol metallurgical plants, which are part of the Metinvest group of companies Rinat Akhmetov, approved the ATO in the city.

“We thank the police officers on behalf of all residents of the city. In order for the anti-terrorist operation to be carried out with minimal risks for civilians of the city, all actions of the police and National Guard units that are carrying out the operation to localize illegal armed groups were coordinated at a high level. It is very important that the ATO in Mariupol was carried out by regular, legal military units subordinate to the ATO headquarters,” said Yuriy Zinchenko, General Director of PJSC Ilyich Iron and Steel Works.
“Today we are confident that we will quickly return to our normal lives. All Mariupol residents want armed people to stop walking around the city like masters. Everyone wants banks to operate in our city, robberies and extortion to stop, all shops to open, so that businesses can operate peacefully,” Zinchenko said.
“I believe that the people who did not lay down their arms set themselves against all the peaceful residents of the city. And taking into account all the circumstances, conducting an anti-terrorist operation in Mariupol is the only way out of this situation. This will help everyone return to normal life - both residents and enterprises,” said Enver Tskitishvili, General Director of PJSC Azovstal Iron and Steel Works.
In his opinion, the ATO in Mariupol is a turning point “for Mariupol and very significant for the whole of Ukraine.”
