Akhmetov is lamenting: it will take years to restore the energy system
To reach a relatively acceptable level of generation, Ukraine needs about two to three weeks of restoration work, provided that Russia does not launch new attacks.
The executive director of the largest private energy company in Ukraine, DTEK, owned by the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, Dmitry Sakharuk, said this on air on the ICTV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Currently the situation is stabilizing, generation is gradually being restored. Almost all nuclear power units have already reached their nominal power,” Sakharuk said on the ICTV channel.
According to him, in most regions emergency shutdowns continue beyond the schedules that are necessary to stabilize the energy system.
“Now we are talking in the context of this winter. So we can stabilize the system only by maximizing restoration to the level that allows generation to operate. For this, if there is no shelling, it will take two to three weeks and the generation will return to the volume that is now possible,” said the executive director of DTEK.
However, he added that “if we talk about the restoration that took place before the shelling, starting in October, then it will take years.”
At the same time, the chairman of the board of NEC Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudrytsky, during a telethon broadcast on Ukrainian channels, called on Ukrainians to stock up on water and charge their devices, since a significant shortage of electricity is expected in the country due to cold weather and the beginning of the working week.
