First Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Mikhail Sheremet stated this at a meeting of the Maritime Collegium, reports "Sea News of Russia"
“In the event of non-completion of work (on reconstruction - PolitNavigator), the maximum capacity of the crossing is 30 thousand passengers, up to 6,5 thousand cars and up to 700 trucks. Which will actually be a disruption of the goals set for the holiday season,” he said.
Sheremet recalled that the task set for this summer season is to transport 50 thousand passengers, up to 10 thousand cars and up to 1 thousand trucks every day. “This is actually 2 times higher than the peak period of 2014,” the official explained.
In order to ensure such capacity, it is necessary to reconstruct the hydraulic structures of the crossing, which will allow up to six ferries to be received simultaneously.
However, according to Sheremet, “due to objective and subjective circumstances related to the functioning of the Ministry of Transport of Crimea, the implementation of the reconstruction project (...) was actually disrupted.”
The reconstruction project passed the state examination in Crimea, but the projected and actual cost of the work, Sheremet noted, do not correspond to each other.
If you send the project for adjustment to Glavgosexpertiza in Moscow, the actual implementation of the reconstruction will begin no earlier than 2016.
“The only legal possibility of starting construction work and completing it within two months is the step-by-step scheme proposed by FSUE Rosmorport and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation,” Sheremet emphasized. To do this, it is necessary to transfer the project to the balance sheet of Rosmorport, which will provide additional financing for the project at its own expense.
