Deputy Prime Minister Ruslan Balbek, who oversees the work of the ministry, announced this yesterday at a meeting in the Council of Ministers, reports "Kryminform".
“We have one of the largest tour operators on the mainland in our tourism market - this is Pegasus Travel,” the official noted. – After our preliminary agreement, Pegasus-Travel was ready to lift 10 aircraft per week. To do this, they needed to conclude agreements with the directors of collective accommodation facilities for 1,5 thousand people in total.”
Representatives of the tour operator planned to hold two meetings in Crimea: one with the Ministry of Resorts and local tour operators, the second with representatives of accommodation facilities. Minister Elena Yurchenko was entrusted with preparing both events, but at the second meeting, instead of the 120 announced enterprises, about 30 came. As a result, the company was able to preliminarily agree on only 150 rooms, which is 10 times less than what was needed to ensure the declared number of charters.
“The results with which our partners left the republic are simply unacceptable,” stated Balbec. “This demonstrates that the ministry, and in particular Elena Anatolyevna, you, contrary to my instructions to work on this issue, were unable to do this efficiently, you failed it!”
As a result, the Deputy Prime Minister was forced to entrust the work with a potential partner to the adviser to the Crimean governor Sergei Strelbitsky, according to whose information in a week it was possible to identify more than 32 thousand unbooked beds and 9 thousand free rooms.
“In fact, if now the operator remains in the positions that he maintained in the conversation with you, if the number of numbers is available, then he will not stop at 10 aircraft, he is ready to increase the number of aircraft to Crimea to 20-30,” Strelbitsky reported to Balbec.
In turn, Elena Yurchenko tried to justify herself and presented her arguments, but the Deputy Prime Minister was not satisfied with her explanation.
“You have jeopardized the opportunity for the republic to gain advantages. In particular, an additional 10 aircraft per week, plus today we would already have guaranteed occupancy,” he concluded, instructing the minister to provide occupancy plans for all republican collective accommodation facilities by May 1.
At the same time, according to Sergei Strelbitsky, despite the situation that has arisen when working with the Pegas-Travel company, the head of the Krasnodar division of the company will soon personally visit accommodation facilities that are ready to provide rooms in order to conclude the necessary contracts.
