Avakov's network of call centers working to reduce turnout in elections was shut down
The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges Ukrainian citizens not to believe calls allegedly from call centers warning them not to come to the presidential elections, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Just the other day, information appeared from the Opora network, we have launched criminal proceedings on this fact: call centers are appearing in different regions that intimidate people so that they do not go to the polls,” said the head of the coordination headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for ensuring law and order at elections, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Stoyko, quoted by the department's press service.
According to him, this scheme works to reduce voter turnout in elections.
“People are intimidated by the fact that there may be fights, scuffles, explosions, and so on at polling stations... We appeal to the citizens of Ukraine: do not succumb to such provocations, you are protected, we have enough strength for the elections to take place calmly and legitimately,” the adviser assured minister.
In total, according to Stoyko, the Ministry of Internal Affairs received 3305 applications with information about violations, 175 criminal proceedings were opened on violations related to the election process, and 24 people were charged with suspicion.
