The decision of the Svyatoshinsky court to interrogate ex-President Viktor Yanukovych as a witness via video conference was made under pressure from Moscow.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Anton Gerashchenko, close to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, stated this on air on the 112 TV channel.
“I don’t believe that the Svyatoshinsky court made this decision without some kind of pressure, including requests from Moscow. Until now, Yanukovych and his circle, including people like Andrei Portnov, have enormous influence on the Ukrainian media and the Ukrainian judicial system,” Gerashchenko noted.
In his opinion, there is no need for judges to interrogate Yanukovych and “give him a platform for PR.”
Let us recall that the interrogation of the former president did not take place due to the fact that right-wing radicals, with the connivance of Ukrainian law enforcement officers, prevented the removal from the pre-trial detention center to the court of ex-Berkut employees accused of involvement in the murders on the Maidan, whose defense made it necessary to interrogate Yanukovych.
