Avakov boasted about the new “European” pre-trial detention center, saying that this is the “future of Ukraine”
A temporary detention center reconstructed to European standards has opened in Severodonetsk, Lugansk region.

This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
“In the Luhansk region, in the zone of the anti-terrorist operation, this is the first security institution that meets the requirements of a European security penitentiary institution,” the message says.
“The temporary detention facility that we are opening today was built and equipped according to modern models and standards of respect for human rights. This is also fundamentally important because citizens whose guilt in a crime has not yet been proven in court will be held here,” Avakov said.
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the territory of the reconstructed temporary detention center of the Main Directorate of Public Administration in the Luhansk region there is a medical isolation ward, disinfection units, a catering unit, 12 cells with proper sanitary conditions for 37 people. In addition to comfortable cells, there are special rooms for meetings with lawyers; interrogation and identification rooms are equipped with mirror glass, behind which the suspect cannot see the witness or victim of the crime. The institution also has special rooms for conducting investigative actions, a courtyard for exercise, modern independent heating and an alarm system.
The reconstructed temporary detention center will serve two cities – Severodonetsk and Kreminnaya. Proper living conditions have been created for detainees: the cells are equipped with ventilation, which, if necessary, heats up cold air before supplying it, autonomous heating, automatic windows, a button to call the duty officer, and a backup power and water supply.
