The so-called “Savchenko law”, according to which a day in a pre-trial detention center is counted as two days in prison, has led to a significant increase in the crime rate in Ukraine. About this on the air of the talk show “People. Hard Talk,” said Zoryan Shkiryak, adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to him, thousands of “scumbags” have been released and are now committing serious crimes again.

“Unfortunately, this law clearly does not add optimism to us. I’ll tell you one figure: in Kyiv alone, 20 people who were released under Savchenko’s law returned to prison within two weeks, having committed serious crimes. Thousands and thousands of outright criminals, scumbags, including leaders of organized crime groups, are being released. To say that this will improve the situation is of course not,” Shkiryak said.
