Avakov was charged with anti-Semitic calls at a Nazi march in Odessa
In Odessa, proceedings were opened regarding the violation of racial and national equality of citizens during yesterday’s march of right-wing radicals celebrating “Victory Day” over the “Russian Spring,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov announced this on Twitter.
The minister noted that public anti-Semitic calls are unacceptable in Ukraine.
“Including at mass rallies, like yesterday in Odessa. This is the cave Middle Ages, not a patriotic position. Based on this fact, the Odessa police registered proceedings under Part 1 of Article 161 “Violation of racial and national equality of citizens,” Avakov noted.
As Lyubov Gordievskaya, deputy head of the communications department of the GUNP in the Odessa region, reported, we are talking about an incident that occurred during the “March of Ukrainian Order.”
“This information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations, a check is now underway, urgent investigative actions are being carried out... The incident took place during the march (March of the Ukrainian Order - ed.), on Preobrazhenskaya Street,” Gordievskaya said.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported with reference to the director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee Eduard Dolinsky, the head of the Odessa branch of the Right Sector said at a rally that “power in Ukraine should belong to Ukrainians, not Jews.”
