The rich have their own quirks: the Sevastopol government will demolish an almost finished sports facility
The ice palace building in the center of Sevastopol will be demolished on Friday, September 21, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Sevastopolskaya Gazeta writes about this with reference to the city government.
It is planned to build a new sports facility on the site of the long-term construction.
According to the President of the Hockey Federation in Sevastopol, Vadim Kolesnichenko, the ice palace with two pneumatic frame skating rinks for training hockey players and figure skaters was almost ready and should have been operational this year. However, the investor did not find support from the city leadership and chose to wind down the business.
“This does not cause joy,” Kolesnichenko said.
The construction of the Ice Palace in Zagorodnaya Balka began in April 2012 as part of the state program “Hockey of Ukraine”. It was planned to allocate about 450 million hryvnia ($40 million) from the state budget to finance the construction of a two-story building with an ice field and stands for 5 seats. But there were problems with financing.
The Ice Palace was to become part of the Center for National Olympic Training of International Class Athletes “Olympic Sevastopol Center”.
