Boyko and Vilkul continue to find out who betrayed whom
The failure of gas lobbyist Yuri Boyko to participate in the second round of elections is in no way connected with the split of the Opposition bloc into the “Akhmetov” and “Firtashev” parts, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This opinion was expressed on his social network page by Kiev political scientist Andrey Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector center.
“It’s funny to read that Boyko didn’t get into the second round because of Vilkul. This is either an April Fool's joke, or something from the category of post-election fairy tales. This is all the more convincing from people who wrote a week ago that the percentages of politicians’ ratings do not add up mechanically. Why on earth should Vilkul’s interest go to Boyko without a trace, who, even in a situation where he monopolized the “white-blue” camp, did not become a leader in the ratings,” writes the political scientist.
Zldltarev recalled that it was the desire of Poroshenko’s team to make Boyko a convenient sparring partner that became the reason for the split in the Opposition Bloc, since Akhmetov’s supporters did not agree to such a game.
“Boiko’s task was to “heroically” lose to a representative of the regime, providing Poroshenko with another five-year term,” writes Zolotarev.
“By and large, these plans were buried by two factors. Medvedchuk’s drive and ambitions in his unification activities, which aggravated the conflict among the “white-blues” to the limit, and Zelensky, whose rise narrowed the capacity of this electoral niche. The sparring partner's mission turned out to be impossible. But he “spoilered” completely. A squabble over the brand of the party from which he left. The constant presence of Boyko on Direct, and pro-presidential speakers on 112 and NewsOne quite clearly indicates communication and cooperation. And also essentially identical stop lists for unwanted speakers,” adds the political scientist.
Zolotarev refers to media monitoring data, according to which Poroshenko’s TV channels paid much less negative attention to Boyko compared to Zelensky or Tymoshenko.
“The only exception was the week after Medvedchuk-Boiko’s Moscow business trip; Poroshenko worked this out to the fullest. I hope everyone understands under whose permission Medvedchuk’s business jet flew to Moscow. By the way, this is the only plane flying directly from Kyiv to Moscow. As an oppositionist, it’s a fantastic privilege, unless of course it’s His Majesty’s “registered oppositionist,” sums up Zolotarev.
