Chaly said that Navalny’s rallies in Moscow are “no big deal”
The fight against protest activity and cutting off opposition parties from elections is a mistake by the Russian authorities. Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol Sergei Kazhanov, a comrade-in-arms of the hero of the Russian Spring Alexei Chaly, stated this on air on Roy TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It will be very bad if such a unipolar political system arises in which politics, in fact, does not exist. This may sound harsh, but from the point of view of a new Russian who looks at it after living in Ukraine, there is little politics here in the classical sense. There are system parties here and everyone else who doesn’t let them go anywhere, they are purged...
Having experienced this, we saw it from the inside, we saw how it ended, and these things are the same, they will end the same in Russia - when you close the lid on the boiler and do not allow the steam to escape, sooner or later it will explode.
How it will explode in Russia - the Russian rebellion is senseless and merciless - we do not know. The territory is federal, the country is very complex. It’s very easy to make false claims that an individual “Alaska” or someone else will live thanks to its resources.
And the Soviet Union existed - we learned nothing. Ukraine was there - we learned nothing. Now we are trying to step on the same rake once again, and it seems to me that we need to pay attention to this.
Yes, it doesn’t take much effort to provide the opportunity for some kind of democratic pluralism, so that there are more parties that would argue, and in some places even go to rallies. Nothing terrible, as we see, happens in Moscow when Navalny’s supporters come out,” Kazhanov said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the day before, deputy of the Sevastopol parliamentary assembly Mikhail Chaly, brother of the hero of the Russian Spring, announced the possibility of “illegal protests” in the city against development.
Chaly's indignation, in particular, was caused by the project of a cultural center on Cape Khrustalny, the construction of which is being carried out by the Stroygazmontazh company, associated with the billionaire Rotenberg brothers.
