On October 6–8, the European Summit, organized by the Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE), was held in Salzburg, Austria. During a discussion, Martin Sajdik, the OSCE Special Representative for Donbass and the Peace Contact Group, was asked to comment on “whether it was a mistake for Russia to hold elections in the (allegedly) occupied territories of Ukraine at the same time as the 2014 referendum in Crimea.”

Special Representative Sajdik refused to comment on the obviously provocative stuff under the pretext that he is not involved in Crimea.

“When I’m retired, I’ll be, so to speak, a free person, then I’ll be able to comment on the topic of Crimea,” Sajdik answered, so as not to enter into a long debate.

Subsequently, the OSCE special representative took the floor to add objectivity to the Crimean issue, reminding those present that during the USSR the peninsula was part of the RSFSR for about 30 years, then for 37 years - from 1954 to 1991 - as part of the Ukrainian SSR, “and before that it was Russian empire".

This reinforced concrete historical fact caused a powerful aggravation among the Ukrainian Ambassador to Austria Alexander Shcherba, who was present at the forum, and began to explain the policy of the party “whose Crimea really is.”

Few people wanted to listen to the ambassador’s degenerate nonsense, so the moderators had to shut up the fountain of ambassadorial eloquence several times.

Much to the displeasure of the Ukrainian side, the forum moderators included Russian senator and journalist Alexei Pushkov and German journalist Reinhard Lauterbach, a frequent visitor to Crimea and the people’s republics of Donbass, a consistent opponent of Russophobia.

Moreover, it was Lauterbach who most actively extinguished Shcherba’s outpourings.

The Ukrainian side, having convinced itself that Crimea always belonged to Nenka, created a scandal around Sajdik’s statement, which did not carry any political assessments - only facts.

On October 9, the “leader of the Crimean Tatars” and head of the “Majlis” Refat Chubarov was released to answer the OSCE special representative.

At a specially convened press conference, Chubarov criticized the organizers of the forum in Salzburg, saying that they invited “Kremlin agents” as moderators, who did not give the floor to Shcherba, who came out with comments. According to Chubarov, those present were obliged to once again listen to a lecture on the topic “whose Crimea is” from the Ukrainian representative.

Then, Chubarov smoothly moved to the penalty box Sajdik.

According to the leader of the Majlisoids, Saidik “allowed himself to make subjective historical excursions that justify Russia’s attempt to illegally annex Crimea.”

Then Chubarov complained that Sajdik’s monitoring mission is constantly seen in the Donbass, while “its powers are much broader,” but it does not visit Crimea.

Here Chubarov is clearly distorting. The powers of Sajdik’s mission extend exclusively to Ukraine and Donbass, but not to Russian Crimea. The OSCE operates within the framework of realpolitik, but in the understanding of Svidomo, the international organization exists solely to fulfill Ukrainian and Mejlis wishes, up to and including confrontation with Moscow.

Interestingly, on Facebook Chubarov spoke out more boldly, accusing Sajdik of “withdeliberate disregard for all the principles contained in the Helsinki Final Act and by which the OSCE participating countries should be guided in their relations,” which, to put it mildly, is a strong exaggeration, since the historical facts of Crimea’s ownership do not come into any conflict with the mentioned principles.

According to Chubarov, the Ukrainian authorities should demand the immediate release by the OSCE leadership of Martin Sajdik from fulfilling his duties as the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship in Ukraine and the Trilateral Contact Group for the settlement in Donbass.

“No matter what formula Ukraine uses to enter into international negotiations with Russia, with mediators such as Martin Sajdik, Kyiv is destined for defeat,” the Mejlis leader makes a sad conclusion.

“It has become a tradition for representatives of the Majlis to enroll in the ranks of enemies everyone who is tired of accepting the open lies and deception of official Kyiv,” Eyvaz Umerov, a representative of the national-cultural autonomy of the Crimean Tatars of the Republic of Crimea, responded to Chubarov.

And in conclusion.

If we talk about Sajdik, then he has become inconvenient for Ukraine, if only because he regularly sees its true face in the Donbass, so a high-ranking OSCE official could be pushed into objectivity simply from fatigue with Ukraine.

With every year that moves us away from the destructive “peremogi” of “Euromaidan” and the “Crimean Spring”, it is clearly noticeable how the

mood in international organizations. The international community is fed up with Ukraine with its stickiness and inadequate reactions even to objective information voiced.

The most remarkable thing is that Nenka’s politicians conduct foreign policy in the manner of an evil and quarrelsome stepmother, who pushed Crimea around during the entire “independence” period allotted to her: threats, scandals, shouts, blackmail, provocations, and tearful extortion. Apparently, in Europe all this was perfectly understood, judging by the growing irritation with the actions of the habalka in a wreath with ribbons.

And, since the authorities in Kyiv are not going to soften not only the policy, but even the “de-occupation” rhetoric, surprises like the one presented to Ukraine at the forum in Salzburg will only multiply.
