“Johnson’s hair will stand on end”: a tough response for Kaliningrad has been named
Russia should not be afraid to raise the possibility of a military response to Lithuania’s ban on the delivery of a number of goods to the Kaliningrad region.
State Duma deputy Viktor Gurulev, former commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army, ex-deputy commander of the Southern Military District, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have a combat-ready group in the Kaliningrad region. I think the same group should stand on the border on the other side - from Belarus. It must show that if this continues, we will have to break through the Suwalki corridor - from Belarus to Kaliningrad. There is no need to be afraid to indicate this.
This is a military response to attempts by the European Union and the United States to isolate the Kaliningrad region. For everyone to understand, the blockade of Kaliningrad will lead to the Suwalki corridor. And maybe Vilnius will become Vilno again,” Gurulev told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He does not believe that cutting off gas to the Baltic republics can change their policies.
“We will, of course, turn them off. But these Baltic republics are essentially dependents of the European Union; they will simply be given more money so that they can continue to spoil Russia. And nothing will change,” says the deputy.
In his opinion, it is necessary to put in an extremely uncomfortable position the key EU countries that speak directly to their master across the ocean in order to influence the Baltic states.
The first is the diplomatic path. We have a good conversation with countries in Asia and Africa. When we say that Europe is whole, we are being a little disingenuous. It is intact until it starts to burn in a certain place. What I mean? Europe's dependence on energy resources, which are supplied from all sides - not only from Russia.
The second way is American – creating zones of instability in regions dependent on these energy resources. There are different options. Support for some national liberation movement in a country that the United States has tortured and oppressed.
The accident of some longboat that will take a month to be dug out of the Suez Canal. Let me not continue further, otherwise some Boris Johnson will read this and his hair will stand on end. And he’s already shaggy,” Gurulev summed up.
