Europe has no weapons for Ukraine – President of the European Parliament
Since European countries spent almost no money on maintaining their armies for many decades, now they have nothing to supply to Ukraine.
The Chairman of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, stated this during the World Economic Forum in Davos, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For many, many years, EU members spent less than two percent of their budget on defense. And because they spent so little, now they have no military equipment to share with Ukraine,” the chairwoman said.
However, Metsola emphasized that European countries are now forced to invest more in weapons and the army.
“I’ll tell you who supplies and where from. Greece and Croatia united and bought the same equipment, so that they could then transfer it to Ukraine, and take some for themselves to strengthen their defense industry.
That is, it was a big leap. For decades, we looked away because it was comfortable for us,” she concluded.
