This was stated by First Deputy Chairman of the NBU Yakov Smoliy.
“The National Bank, in order to maintain financial stability... proposes to apply sanctions in the form of preventing the export of capital outside Ukraine,” said Y. Smoliy.
He also added that these sanctions are proposed to be applied to those banks with Russian capital that operate in Ukraine. These are Sberbank, Prominvestbank, VTB, Vieste Bank, BM Bank.
As noted by Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Ekaterina Rozhkova, this proposal of the NBU will take effect after the corresponding decision is made by the National Security and Defense Council. She added that sanctions will only be applied to Russian banks with Russian state capital.
Rozhkova expressed hope “that the potential exit of these banks from the market will be carried out in a civilized way - either through a sale or through the gradual fulfillment of obligations to clients.”
Let us remind you that on March 15, the National Bank of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine were instructed to make proposals within XNUMX hours, in particular, the introduction of sanctions against banking institutions of Ukraine, in the capital of which there is a share of state banks of the Russian Federation.
