A NATO base will appear near the border with Ukraine
The Polish authorities are considering the possibility of placing an American military base in the east of the country, almost near the border with Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated on Friday in an interview with RMF FM radio by the head of the office of the Prime Minister of Poland, Michal Dworczyk.
The issue of creating a permanent US military base on Polish territory was one of the topics of negotiations between Polish President Andrzej Duda and US President Donald Trump, held on Tuesday in Washington. The head of the White House said that his country is considering the possibility of creating such a base, noting that Poland is ready to compensate the United States over $2 billion for the permanent presence of American troops on its territory.
“Everyone understands that a decision such as the deployment of permanent American bases in Poland would be a big event and would significantly affect the security of the entire region,” Dworczyk said, emphasizing that “it is too early to talk about specific locations.”
“One thing is clear: we would like such a decision to be made, so that the base would be located somewhere on the eastern flank, in the northeast or east of Poland,” he said.
