Austrian citizens have a coat of arms with a hammer and sickle in their passports. How to get to Ukraine now?
If European tourists entering Ukraine have hammers and sickles in their passports, they will still be allowed into the country.
The notorious Ukrainian politician Oleg Lyashko said this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “Correspondent”, answering the question of what to do if a citizen of Austria, whose coat of arms has a hammer and sickle, tries to visit Ukraine, where a law has been passed banning the corresponding symbols.

“Tourists from European countries will be welcome in Ukraine with any passport,” promises Lyashko. – I repeat, the law is about condemning the communist and national socialist totalitarian regimes. If an Austrian passport has a hammer and sickle, I assume that these symbols are not prohibited in the EU, whose countries, by the way, have long condemned totalitarian regimes. Therefore, to Austrian tourists I will say “Willkommen in der Ukraine”.
