The situation with the arrest of MP Nadezhda Savchenko will not negatively affect Ukraine on the international stage, but it will have to be explained, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This opinion was expressed by Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.

“If this process is clear and complies with the law, then I think that this situation will not affect Ukraine in any negative way,” she said.

However, Klympush-Tsintsadze noted, the Ukrainian side will have to explain to international partners for some time what really happened in the situation around Savchenko.

As you know, on March 22, SBU investigators detained people’s deputy Savchenko in the building of the Verkhovna Rada almost immediately after the people’s deputies supported the proposal of the Prosecutor General’s Office to lift Savchenko’s immunity, her detention and arrest.

On the same day, the Prosecutor General announced suspicion to Nadezhda Savchenko.

On March 23, the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for Savchenko in the form of detention for 59 days - until May 20 - without the alternative of posting bail.

Let us remind you that Nadezhda Savchenko is charged with:

- part 1 art. 109 (actions aimed at violently changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power);

- part 1 art. 14 (preparation for a crime);

- part 2 art. 28 (commission of a crime by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization);

- part 1 art. 109; Part 1 Art. 14 hours 2 tbsp. 28, art. 112 (attack on the life of a statesman or public figure)

- part 1 art. 14 hours 3 tbsp. 258 (terrorist act);

- part 1 art. 258-3 (creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization);

- part 2 art. 28 and part 1 art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code.

Among the evidence against Savchenko, investigators have, in particular, audio and video recordings of her conversations and actions, which allegedly indicate the preparation of terrorist attacks and a change of power.
