It reminds us that due to Ukraine’s refusal to pay, the Russian Ministry of Finance filed a lawsuit in the High Court of London, which included both a demand for the return of the debt itself, as well as penalties, fines and legal costs.
“But Kyiv continues to resist, and the IMF leadership actually helps it,” the newspaper notes. – So, on September 14 there will be a meeting of the fund’s board of governors (which includes representatives of Russia), at which the issue of allocating the third loan tranche to Ukraine will be considered. According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov, we will vote against it. Indeed, if the tranche is approved, the IMF will violate its own rules. True, Russia will not be able to block a positive decision alone - there will not be enough votes. But one can feel that Ukraine is shaking in its veins. According to Alexander Danilyuk, Kyiv is ready for negotiations with Moscow on a pre-trial settlement of the dispute. A meeting on this issue could take place in Washington in October.”
“But it is obvious that in the Ukrainian government the right hand does not know what the left is doing,” writes MK. – At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin said that Kyiv would file a lawsuit against Russia in an international court regarding violation of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Apparently it concerns the coastal waters of Crimea. But in such conditions there is no need to talk about any pre-trial agreements in other areas.”
