Such a decision was adopted today at a plenary meeting of the Kyiv City Council
The monument will be located at st. Vladimir Mayakovsky, 2-2-A in the Desnyansky district of Kyiv. It is reported that the monument is made in full height of a Ukrainian warrior - 205 cm high and made of bronze.
“The very idea of the sculpture is very deep, it concentrates all the values that Ukraine is currently fighting for, responding to the challenges and threats of prosperity and independence. With the sculpture of a volunteer of the Russian-Ukrainian war, we want to convey the collective image of the Ukrainian indestructible defender, a patriot who demonstrates with all his appearance that he is ready to fight,” notes Kyiv City Council deputy Petr Kuzyk.
The Kiev City Council reported that the monument project had undergone public discussions and was fully supported by residents of the Desnyansky district. No funds were raised from the city budget for the creation of the sculpture, only philanthropic funds. In addition, deputies were informed that the monument had already been made. The official opening is scheduled for this Sunday – July 10th.
The information of the Kyiv authorities was confirmed by the nationalist VO “Svoboda”. Companion Oleg Tyagnibok and People’s Deputy Andrey Ilyenko announced the opening of “the first monument to a Ukrainian volunteer soldier in Kyiv” at 19.00 on July 10 in the Kyiv Troyeshchyna and published his photo.
According to Ilyenko, “Svoboda” not only “cleanses Ukraine of occupation debris, but also builds, creates ours, something new and relevant.” The people’s deputy also announced a performance at the opening of the monument by the rock bands “Haydamaky” and “Shadow of the Sun”, which are iconic among Ukrainian far-right youth.
