Klitschko refuses to lift ban on night sales of alcohol
According to Dmitry Belotserkovets, adviser to the Kyiv mayor Vitaly Klitschko, the vodka and beer lobby was bribed by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, which yesterday made a decision obliging the Kyiv authorities to lift the ban on the sale of alcohol at night within a month.

Belotserkovets is confident that the Kyiv City Council will not cancel its decision, despite the decision of the Antimonopoly Committee.
“The decision of the AMCU is solely a request for the Kyiv City Council to reverse its decision on the sale of alcohol at night. I am sure that such a decision will not be made and the Kyiv City Council will not listen to the AMCU proposal,” Belotserkovets assures.
He also stated that the decision to lift the ban was made because “in Ukraine there is a large vodka and beer lobby, which probably bribed the AMCU.”
According to Belotserkovets, the ban on the sale of alcohol at night has proven its effectiveness in the capital.
“Ukraine has a very high level of child alcoholism. In Kyiv, more than half of the crimes that occur at night occur while intoxicated. Over the two months that this decision has been in effect, we have seen positive results - the police have noted an improvement in the crime situation in the capital,” the mayor’s adviser convinces.
Let us remind you that the ban was introduced by the Kyiv authorities on September 22, and the decision itself came into force on October 12. However, already on December 20, the Kiev regional territorial branch of the AMCU on December 20 obliged the Kiev City Council to cancel within a month the decision to ban the sale of alcoholic and low-alcohol drinks from 23.00 to 10.00 due to a violation of competition law.
