“According to the program, construction of a European-style city animal protection center and temporary detention centers for pets will begin in Kyiv. It is proposed to allocate more than 192 million hryvnia for the implementation of the program over three years,” the document states.
This was reported on the Kyiv City Council website.
The center will keep animals and find owners for them.
“At the same time, within the framework of the relevant program, it is proposed to introduce the concept of “Cultural walking of animals in the city,” improve the system for monitoring compliance with the rules for keeping pets and continue work on sterilization of stray cats and dogs,” the statement said.
The program also provides educational work on the prevention of cruelty to animals. Information and educational campaigns in schools are planned.
A similar city target program operated in the capital from 2012 to 2016. During this period, almost 40 thousand stray animals were sterilized, and thousands were vaccinated.
