Klitschko was banned from writing Kyiv instead of Kiev on signs, but violators will not be punished
Today, the Kiev City Council finally supported Svoboda’s draft decision “On overcoming the consequences of the Soviet occupation” in the second reading and in general. The draft decision is aimed at Ukrainianizing the service sector and outdoor advertising in the Ukrainian capital.

About it posted on his social media page Kyiv City Council deputy from “Svoboda” Yuriy Sirotyuk.
According to him, the decision on Ukrainization was supported by the overwhelming majority of deputies - 80 votes for and not a single vote against.
“Even if this decision is of a recommendatory nature, and the current composition of the Kyiv City Council has “smoothed out” the draft decision a little, removing any sanctions against offenders, still now in Kiev service providers are required to use the Ukrainian language in the first place, and other languages can only be switched to at the request of the client and in case of desire and knowledge of this language. Menus in restaurants should also be Ukrainianized,” writes Svobodovets.
At the same time, on the issue of Ukrainianization of outdoor advertising, according to the deputy, Kyiv City Council “has reached a dead end.” And although the nationalists tried to push through a rule obliging all signs in Kyiv to be translated into Ukrainian or transliterated in capital letters, the deputy was prevented from voting for this by “the current too liberal, if not anti-Ukrainian, legislation on outdoor advertising.”
Nevertheless, despite the half-hearted nature of the decision, in comparison with the proposed initial version, the nationalist deputy was satisfied with the results of the vote.
“Yet Kyiv became the first city where Article 10 of the Constitution was enshrined in the service sector. I warn business entities against failure to comply with this decision. The next option is to be much tougher in this case,” Yuriy Sirotyuk threatened Kyiv businessmen.
The decision of the Kiev City Council has already been called “correct” by members of the neo-Nazi group C14 on their social network page.
“Now all advertising signs, banners, leaflets, audio and video materials must be in Ukrainian,” the neo-Nazis note with satisfaction.
