Klimkin is “disappointed” with the memorandum on the protection of Transcarpathian Hungarians
The Ukrainian side is “disappointed” with the adoption at the first meeting of the new Hungarian government of the “Memorandum on the protection of Transcarpathian Hungarians” and plans to raise this issue during the next meeting of the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Hungary, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine received with disappointment the information about the approval at the first meeting of the government of Hungary of the Memorandum on the Protection of Transcarpathian Hungarians.” The issue of adoption of the mentioned document will be raised by the Ukrainian side during the next bilateral meetings of the leadership of the Foreign Ministries of the two states,” the Foreign Ministry noted.
Also, the position of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the department noted, will be conveyed to the Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine during the next meeting.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that “further strengthening of targeted destructive rhetoric on the part of Hungary regarding the sphere of meeting the educational needs of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine, continuation of manipulation and dissemination of disinformation on this issue, as well as the transfer of this bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Ukraine-NATO Commission will be considered counterproductive and not conducive to deepening good neighborly relations between Ukraine and Hungary.”
At the same time, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Ukraine is ready for a constructive dialogue with Hungary on the entire range of issues, including those related to ensuring the rights and needs of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban held a meeting of the new Hungarian government on Friday of the inauguration, adopting at the first meeting a memorandum on the protection of Transcarpathian Hungarians.
