Klimkin is disappointed with Russia
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed disappointment that Russia “remains the only one in the OSCE who stubbornly blocks the expansion of the mission’s mandate to the entire section of the border adjacent to the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions not controlled by Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine posted on the department’s website in connection with the decision of the OSCE Permanent Council to extend the mandate of the OSCE Observer Mission at two Russian checkpoints “Gukovo” and “Donetsk”.
“The discussion during the 1184th meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on May 3, 2018, at which the above-mentioned decision was approved, showed Russia’s isolation in its reluctance to ensure effective international control at the border. Such actions of the Russian Federation indicate its intention to continue the supply of weapons, ammunition and military equipment, regular troops, and mercenaries in order to support terrorist activities on the territory of Ukraine. In this regard, having joined the consensus on the decision, the Ukrainian delegation to the OSCE voiced the corresponding interpretative statement,” the commentary says.
